Bible Text: Matthew 14:22-31 | Stephen Weenink
It's human nature to present ourselves as being better than we actually are and to hide our inadequacies from everyone except those who are closest to us. The Scripture teaches us, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." As Christians we are called to "wear our weakness", to "confess our sins to one another", to "not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to..."
The truth is, when we hide behind our successes and our presentable public image, sometimes we hide things that are incredibly ugly and broken and have the potential to destroy, not only our own lives, but the lives of others, causing incredible, irreversible damage.
This Sunday, we again take a look at the life of Peter, and how one outward display of incredible faith was actually masking his lack of faith.
