The reason why? Because the world is becoming a divisive place. Our culture is increasingly becoming polarized down political lines:
Conservativism versus socialism. Left versus right.
When we voluntarily divide ourselves according to ideology we elevate opinion over unity and we elevate self over community.
Our culture has politicized almost everything:
How we respond to a global pandemic has been politicized.
How we respond to racial oppression has been politicized.
Whether or not churches decide to open this weekend has been politicized.
Christians are called to be much more than political pundits:
We are supposed to transcend politics by love and unity.
We build bridges that find common ground and a common vision.
The world will not be transformed by political ideology.
It will be transformed when Christians truly live out the love of Jesus.
