This morning we will discuss the power of unity and humility.
The reason why? Because the world is becoming a divisive place. Our culture is increasingly becoming polarized down political lines:
- Conservativism versus socialism. Left versus right.
- When we voluntarily divide ourselves according to ideology we elevate opinion over unity and we elevate self over community.
Our culture has politicized almost everything:
- How we respond to a global pandemic has been politicized.
- How we respond to racial oppression has been politicized.
- Whether or not churches decide to open this weekend has been politicized.
Christians are called to be much more than political pundits:
- We are supposed to transcend politics by love and unity.
- We build bridges that find common ground and a common vision.
- The world will not be transformed by political ideology.
- It will be transformed when Christians truly live out the love of Jesus.
