Bible Text: Luke 19:28-44 | John Cook, Stephen Weenink
Series: Holy Week 2021
Israel has been waiting a long, long time for their king, not some oppressor king. Zechariah 9:9-10:
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and victorious,
lowly and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
and the warhorses from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow will be broken.
He will proclaim peace to the nations.
His rule will extend from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
Cheers without tears can create superficiality, people pleasing, the crowd mentality blown this way and that with the latest fad, blind to the needs around us.
Might without meekness is ugly, oppressive, and death dealing and ultimately self-destructive
Religion without repentance can produce a smugness, us versus them mentality and judgmental attitudes
