Bible Text: Luke 22:1-23 |

Series:

Judas witnessed all the miracles, heard all of the sermons and parables, experienced all the love and acceptance of Jesus, and even felt the power and authority of Jesus as he took part in being sent out in ministry himself… and yet, he still betrayed Jesus.

When Jesus called Judas to be a part of the 12, Jesus knew full well that Judas would one day betray Him and that betrayal would ultimately result in His death.

Jn. 6:70, Jesus says to disciples, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil. He spoke of Judas Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.

John 2:25, “No one needed to tell him about human nature, for He knew what was in each person’s heart.

I need you to think deeply about this for a minute:

  • Jesus didn’t simply “allow” Judas to be a part of the 12, He chose Judas.
  • Jesus wasn’t blindsided by Judas’ betrayal; He knew it was coming.
  • Jesus wasn’t victimized by Judas, Jesus allowed Himself to be betrayed.
  • Jesus knew all along what was in Judas’ heart, and still welcomed him.

Jesus knows what’s in your heart.  Even when our hearts are full of greed and darkness, Jesus still invites us.  He still welcomes us to the table, welcomes us to His family.
