Over the course of the summer we are going to be looking at the Gospel of Luke and we’re going to be examining all of the time that Jesus spent in table fellowship.  We’re going to look at the people that He chose to eat with, and look at the things that He said and did during these intimate times of fellowship.

  • What we are going to come to discover is that Jesus had built a big table.
  • The group that He accepted into His life was large and diverse and messy.
  • We’ll find that Jesus’ ministry to the broken looked a lot like celebration.

While the Pharisees and religious leaders continued to build higher fences around who was in and who was out, Jesus broke down barriers and extended fellowship to people who had been previously excluded:  Gentiles, women, children, sinners...  Paul continued this trend in his evangelistic journeys...
