Bible Text: Matthew 25:31-40, Isaiah 58:1-11 |

Series:

This Sunday we will be celebrating the first Sunday of Advent.  The English word “advent” simply means, “to come…

Christians borrowed the word “advent” to remember and celebrate the incarnation of Jesus and remember that one day He would come again:

  • Jesus was so much more than an earthly king, ruler, or teacher.
  • Jesus is God in the flesh. Dwelling with us. Teaching, redeeming, rescuing us.

For the Christian, Advent is a time of waiting, wonder, anticipation, slowing, reflecting… a time of awe and worship…  But worship isn’t just an attitude of our hearts, it requires a desire to honour, to prepare, to give… It is an acknowledgement of worth.  It costs us something…

The best way to honour the King, the best way to prepare for His coming, His Advent, is to take care of people in need.  Jesus is personally blessed when we take care of the marginalized.
