Christians have an interesting relationship with money:

  • We need it to survive: To feed, house, and clothe our families.
  • We invest it so that we will have it when we are no longer able to work.
  • We use it for fun, for entertainment, for pleasure, for frivolity…
  • We also use it to bless others, for their peace and well-being.

But Jesus warns us that if we view money improperly, instead of it being a tool that we use, it can become a god that we worship…  One that can quickly take over our lives and become enslaved to, eventually pushing out the One True God…

We learned last week that the avg. Canadian plans to spend around $1000 on Christmas this year.  This number increases every year.  Studies have shown that people consistently overspend their Christmas budget by a large margin… especially if you buy your wife a Lexus…
