Bible Text: Matthew 16:24-26 | Stephen Weenink
Series: He Is We Are
Matthew 16:24, “Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
- A disciple is a follower of Jesus who surrenders their path to Him.
- Jesus leads us where we go.
- Jesus gets first and last say about the direction of our lives.
Jesus asks a question in Luke 6:46-47, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?... come to me, listen to my teaching, and follow it.”
Jesus has called you to follow and obey Him. But who is the one making the plans and directing your life? I want you to really think about this:
- Do I follow Jesus where He is leading me?
- Or, do I expect Jesus to follow me where I go?
